On May 5, 2018, I was walking and rolled my right foot off a curb and heard a loud pop in my foot.  My foot became extremely swollen and painful.  I went home and rested, and the pain continued to worsen, and I contacted my primary care physician Dr. Simon who referred me to a foot and ankle specialist, Dr. Jordan Stewart at the Timonium Foot and Ankle Center.

Dr. Stewart’s office was extremely accommodating, and I was able to get an emergency appointment right away.  As soon as I met Dr. Stewart, we hit it off and I felt like I had known him for a long time.  I felt like I was talking to a friend and not just a doctor. After taking a bunch of x-rays and performing an exam, he diagnosed me with a significant injury known as a Lisfranc fracture dislocation.  He thoroughly explained to me that the ligaments and bones across the middle of my foot were broken.  Dr. Stewart felt confident that he could surgically repair my foot and fix the fracture and dislocation, yet he made it very clear to me that given the nature of the injury that I will always have some level of pain in my foot for the rest of my life.  I was very impressed how direct he was with me, so I knew what to expect over the long-term.

My aftercare experience was excellent.  My wife and I always felt welcomed in the office and we never felt rushed.  Dr. Stewart always answered all our questions in detail.  The staff was amazing in completing all my paperwork for both my job and my disability insurance. One week after the surgery while using my roll about device, I had a significant fall and landed on my operative foot.  I contacted Dr. Stewart over his paging system and he called me back immediately. It made me feel very good knowing that he was there for me.

In addition to my injury, I was very thankful that Dr. Stewart identified and treated another condition that I did not even know was a problem.  For years the bottom of my legs and ankles had been getting dark and I simply thought that I was developing freckles. Dr. Stewart informed me that I had developed a condition called venous stasis disease.  I had significant leg swelling and this had caused my skin to become thin and I did not grow hair on my legs.  He warned me that if I did not get this condition under control that it could create significant health problems moving forward.  Dr. Stewart went above and beyond and referred me to a vascular specialist and he also provided me with compression stockings to wear daily.  I am so grateful that he identified the problem with my swelling as my legs feel better than they have in 15 years and I feel like my legs have more energy with my compression stockings.  Even better, I am now growing hair on my legs again and the dark discoloration is starting to fade.

I cannot say enough great things about Dr. Stewart and my experience at the Timonium Foot and Ankle Center.  The pain from my surgery is 100% resolved and my foot is 100% healed.  As Dr. Stewart warned me before the operation, I still have some mild residual pain, but I am back to working out and living an active life and I could not be happier with my results.

If you need a great foot and ankle specialist I highly recommended Dr. Stewart and the Timonium Foot and Ankle Center.
