In February of 2020 I tore my right Achilles tendon while playing basketball. A few years prior, also while playing pickup basketball, I tore my left ACL. With injuries like an Achilles tendon rupture or ACL tear, you are unable to walk, you are in a lot of pain, and you have a lot of questions and concerns.
My experience with Dr. Stewart at Timonium Foot and Ankle Center for my Achilles tendon injury was night and day different from my experience with my ACL injury. I was referred to Dr. Stewart by a family friend who also had his Achilles tendon repaired by Dr. Stewart and had a great experience. I was able to get an appointment with Dr Stewart the very next morning as he fit me into his busy schedule. Unlike the practice for my ACL injury where I had to wait 45 minutes or more for every appointment, there was little to no wait time to see Dr. Stewart at each visit. Dr. Stewart answered all my questions and clearly laid out all the treatment options and why he recommended that I have my Achilles tendon surgically repaired
Dr. Stewart was very thorough laying out the recovery time, the risks of surgery, the pain I would experience after surgery and everything else that went along with the surgery and long recovery process from this type of injury. My surgery and the pain afterwards were just as he had described. In the days after the surgery, Dr. Stewart called me to check in on my pain levels and to see how I was responding to the pain medicine. He was also calling to make sure I was doing okay, and I really appreciated this. Throughout my rehab and physical therapy, we had regular check ins where he would evaluate my progress. These were great opportunities to learn about the next steps of my recovery and to ask any questions. I felt that I always understood what the next steps were and what to expect every step of the way. Dr Stewart just cleared me after about 10 months and my Achilles tendon feels great and I am just about back to 100%.
My experience with Dr Stewart and his office was fantastic. He was very thorough when answering questions and explaining his recommendations. This gave me confidence when choosing my treatment options. Dr. Stewart made himself accessible 24/7 both during business hours and after hours as I emailed him with questions and he promptly responded. He often checked in on how I was doing. He is very professional and considerate. My Achilles is feeling great and my recovery went just as he described.
I would absolutely recommend Dr. Stewart and his practice for those looking for an attentive doctor who is knowledgeable and professional foot and ankle specialist.
