Over the past 10 years, I have struggled with pain in my foot after injuring the same foot over and over through my soccer and running careers. After training for a half marathon, I was told that I had a stress fracture and my foot would never be the same unless I had “reconstructive” surgery.

When I moved to Maryland, I ignored the continued foot pain and numbness for the first year I lived here. I finally gave in and searched for a specialist and found Dr. Stewart. He worked with me for two years doing everything he could to avoid having to perform surgery on me. He listened to me and managed me conservatively. Despite all of the conservative care, I could not take the pain anymore and we decided that surgery was the next best option.

This past summer, Dr. Stewart performed surgery for plantar fasciitis, tarsal tunnel syndrome, posterior tibial tendinitis and for a tight gastrocnemius complex. I am now 14 weeks post-surgery and the pain has subsided and the feeling in my foot has returned. Dr. Stewart made sure that I had the proper physical therapy after surgery to maximize my outcomes and he provided me with the proper custom foot orthotics to reduce the chance of my conditions recurring. He has followed up with me in every way possible to ensure that I had a positive outcome.

I cannot be grateful enough for the chance to start walking and running without pain after living with pain and numbness for the past 10 years of my life. I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience and the outcome of my surgery with the help of Dr. Stewart and his staff.

Thank you.
