I am an 81-year-old female and in the summer of 2018, I was seen by a foot and ankle orthopedic surgeon for a painful and swollen right foot and ankle. I was in such severe pain that I could barely walk. At my first visit with the orthopedist, I was instructed to use ice and to elevate the foot and told to come back to the office if my foot continued to bother me. My foot pain worsened, and I went to see my primary care physician and I was sent for an MRI. The MRI revealed 2 fractures in my foot. I went back to the orthopedist and was placed in a boot and my foot pain resolved, but my ankle pain was still severe, and I was developing significant pain in the left hip as a result of wearing the boot.
My son-in-law, a Baltimore County police officer, had an excellent experience with Dr. Jordan Stewart of the Timonium Foot and Ankle Center. Many police officers have problems with their feet and ankles and my son-in-law informed me that Dr. Stewart has treated many of his co-workers and they have all been very happy with the results. Additionally, my daughter is an orthopedic nurse and my patient advocate and she and I both felt that we were dismissed from the orthopedic practice for further treatment as a result of my age. I wasn’t given any other options than wearing the boot and my ankle was still in severe pain.
Per the recommendations of my daughter and son-in-law, I decided to get a second opinion with Dr. Stewart. He immediately identified tendinitis in my right ankle and identified that I had a similar problem on the left ankle that was causing me some discomfort as well. In order to treat the ankle pain, Dr. Stewart placed me in an ankle brace and he referred me to Charm City Run where I purchased supportive sneakers. He also referred me for prescription compression stockings to control my pain and swelling. Finally, Dr. Stewart recommended therapeutic laser to treat my ankle pain.
The combination of all the treatments provided by Dr. Stewart has given me 100% relief of my pain and I could not be happier with my results. In fact, I was able to walk down the aisle with my husband at my grandsons wedding, something I did not think I be able to do prior to seeing Dr. Stewart.
The staff at the Timonium Foot and Ankle Center is very considerate and the overall experience was excellent. Dr. Stewart emphasized that I need to continue to support my feet over the long-term and he made me custom foot orthotics and they have been very beneficial in treating my condition.
